Between January 3 and March 18, 2022, Proven Foundation organised an outreach training of women in Kapchorwa district. The beneficiaries received practical livelihoods skills in tailoring, soap making, hair dressing, baking, mushroom farming, vegetable growing and other widely grown cereals. All of these have a ready market in the communities and nearby towns and contribute directly to household income.

In addition, beneficiaries were trained in making reusable sanitary pads and door mats. At end of the training, they give these sanitary pads to the younger girls living within their communities.

Women's empowerment and gender equality to reduce poverty is not a new phenomenon, but has become one of the most important issues nowadays as it gained international attention by feminist organizations for the past decades as a way of getting women's rights into international agenda development and ongoing debate on the existing paradigms.

Concept of empowerment has a long history in social changes work to empower women. It does not necessarily mean academically knowledge but to impact them with vocational skills is one of the major backbones of a country's economic development, and it plays a major role in bridging the huge gender equality gap between men and women.
