Sometimes we think poverty is only being hungry, naked and homeless but the poverty of being unwanted, unloved and uncared for is the greatest poverty. And that’s the same poverty an orphan Paul Yakani an 18 year old boy of Sudan zone in Arua district is experiencing together with his siblings.

Paul is the bread winner of his family. He narrates that he lost both his parents, and this left him no option than becoming both the Father and Mother of his two siblings.

According to Madam Atayi Christine, Paul is the head of the home; he has to make sure that his siblings get what to eat on a daily basis whereby he has to engage himself in the village work like washing people’s cloths, digging, cleaning churches and many more in order to generate some income to earn a living with his siblings.

Unfortunately, Paul had to get out of school even before the COVID 19 pandemic that led to the closure of all schools because he couldn’t manage both school and heading a home at his tender age. In addition, they had lost both parents who were paying for their school fees, in that case, Paul and his siblings had drop out of school. This presents a serious situation in that Paul’s sister is just loitering around the village and this may result into early pregnancies hence leading her to adolescent motherhood and early marriage.

Madam Atayi adds that sometimes things fail for the young boy and he leaves everything to God and the sympathizers. In response to this, Proven Foundation together with its well-wishers reached out to this family in Sudan zone in Arua district with Food stuffs and clothes and the ultimate goal was to inspire hope to orphans and to promote their welfare.
